Random Finished and Unfinished Projects

Here are a few projects I've finished or will finish SOON before Kaia comes!

From top left to bottom right:
  1. A reorganized bookshelf (!) and I painted the picture frames--what else?--green!
  2. My "garden." I've yet to replant a few of them because they've outgrown their pots...need to get to that sometime soon...
  3. I'm whipping up a baby blessing outfit for my friend Andrea...she's in labor RIGHT NOW! The one her mom found wasn't her style, and her mom left her the receipt in case she found something new--or something custom made!(It's a work in progress, to be finished tomorrow...)
  4. I had this red hatbox given to me by mom and dad for one of my birthdays. (I don't have food cravings, I have other cravings, such as wanting to go jump on a tramp, paper mache something, and rearrange furniture multiple times....). I found this cool idea where you use tissue paper instead of newspaper to paper mache! It was a fun craft, especially at 2:00 am Tuesday morning.
  5. I'm also redoing the throw pillows in our living room. I found this green shirt at Deseret Industries and made a pillow cover out of it. Out of the back of the shirt, I cut the back part of the pillow out, and then used one of the front panels of the shirt for the front of the pillow because I wasn't in the mood to deal with button holes. I then used white muslin to meet the green top half and sewed different shades of brown buttons on the front. Voile! (Instead of going to Idaho Falls for fabric, I recycle large shirts, table cloths, and big pants to make whatever my heart desires. There's better "fabric" selection at D.I. than at Walmart or our local EXPENSIVE craft stores...)
  6. And lastly, I redid my sewing "nook" aka the only empty wall in the house. I made a french manicure board, painted the clock and picture frames. I also embroidered new sayings. The square wall hanging says, "Sit long, Talk much, Laugh often." (To which Steven said that this is my motto for visiting teaching...he doesn't understand why it takes me 3 or 4 hours...). The rectangular wall hanging says, "A creative mess is better than tidy idleness." --which I think describes my habit of leaving droppings of my culinary masterpieces or sewing adventures, at least there is proof that I do do SOMETHING while I'm at home by myself.

Kaia should be coming soon! I've started to dilate and whatnot, lots of signs of approaching labor. Can't wait to finally hold her in my arms. I've decided to not get stir crazy this week. I'm going to make a list of all the things I'm looking forward to after I have the baby. Here are the first five:

  1. I can get out of bed, off of a couch, out of a car, into a car, and sit up all by myself again.
  2. I can wear my diamond again. I've felt positively naked the past three months.
  3. I will be able to bend over and twist.
  4. The carpal tunnel syndrome in both of my hands will go away. I will actually be able to tell if I am burning my finger on the iron or not while its happening, instead of finding out later...
  5. I'LL BE ABLE TO TOUCH MY TOES AGAIN--TO PAINT MY TOENAILS AGAIN--AND SHAVE MY OWN LEGS! YAHOO!

That's all for now folks. I wish I had more exciting stuff to report. Hopefully I will sooner than later. :)

Lots of fun stuff Tiff! That is so cool that you are getting so into sewing. You will end up saving a fortune on little dresses by making your own. :)
